The pricing and availability of the Microsoft Surface (Pro) has been confirmed by the Redmond company. The device is expected to launch in the U.S. and Canada on February 9th and pricing will start at $899 for the 64GB model. The device was previously expected to arrive in January.
The device features a 10.6-inch HD touch display, up to 128GB of internal storage, a full-USB 3.0 port, and is powered by Intel Core i5 Ivy Bridge processor. The Surface Pro runs Windows 8 instead of Windows RT which means you will be able to run regular apps, making it more like a laptop than a tablet.
The Surface Pro has been optimized for digital input and you can take full advantage of this with the Surface Pen, which is included with your device. The Surface Pen includes technology which prevents accidental palm touch from being registered on the display. Just like with the Microsoft Surface RT you have the option of a Touch Cover with the flat QWERTY keyboard or a Type Cover which has raised keys, each costing an additional $199. The covers also double as a protector for the screen.
The Surface Pro will be available for purchase through Microsoft’s online store, Best Buy, Staples and other retail partners. Meanwhile Microsoft is also expanding the availability of the Surface RT to other countries including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and others.
