[Windows Phone app] Notifications

One of the biggest frustrations on the Windows Phone platform is the lack of a notification center. While the Live Tiles provide great notifications, you don’t the same level of detail Android devices offer. Microsoft is promising to bring a notification center to Windows Phone 8 devices in the future, but Windows Phone 7 users will be left with a less than impressive Windows Phone 7.8 update which doesn't offer much in terms of features. Now Windows Phone users have access to a new app named Notifications which brings all the app notifications into a single apps.

You can download the app directly on your Windows Phone 7.5 or Windows Phone 8 device through the Windows Phone Store or by using the link which follows:

Download Download from Windows Phone Store
Price Free
Requirements Windows Phone 7.5; Windows Phone 8.0;
Windows Phone 8.1
Press the Search searchbutton on your Windows Phone, tap Vision vision and then scan the following barcode by pointing your device camera toward it

You can choose to install the free Trial version before purchasing the somewhat pricey app. We would much rather see this feature offered to all Windows Phones from Microsoft, but for now it may be the best means of getting notifications on our Windows Phones.

[NOTE] In order to use this app you will have to additionally download the Notification Center PC application.
  1. Install Notification Center on the phone
  2. Run NotificationServer on your PC
  3. Connect your phone to your computer, and sync it with Zune
  4. Restart the phone, without disconnecting
  5. Run Notification Center
  6. Done!
Have you tested this app on your Windows Phone device? Please leave us a comment below with your device model and the version of Windows Phone you have tested it on
