We recently reported that the  update would soon be available for the Samsung Galaxy S III on Verizon. It seems that that time has arrived as several reports are surfacing that the update is now being pushed out to customers.

If you own a GS III on Verizon, you should receive a notifications once the update is available for your device. You can also check if the update is available for your device by heading over to Applications > Settings > About Phone > System Updates. If the update is there select Restart and install.

The update is around 62 MB in size and should take around 5 to 7 minutes to download and another 5 to 7 minutes to install.

Some users have been able to find the update by heading to Settings > Apps > All > Google Services Framework and hitting “Force Stop” and then “Clear Data”. This method has worked for users who have attempted it a few times.

The update will also bring the Google Now functionality which allows you to keep informed in features like traffic, and weather. You will also get the performance improvement of Project Butter and other improvements which are offered in Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The update will feature the latest version of Google Maps with voice typing.

The update brings the ISIS functionality to support mobile payments. This service will be piloted in Salt Lake City, Utah and in Austin, Texas.

You will also receive a new notifications panel which displays missed calls and emails. It also lets you respond to calls or emails directly from the notifications screen.

S-Voice will also be improved in the update with  better voice recognition.  S-Voice and Smart Share now work seamlessly together.

The update also brings photo filters to the camera app. The different filters will allow you to enhance your pictures and you can choose from warm vintage, cold vintage, black and white, sepia, color highlights (blue, green, red/yellow). You now also have the option to stop and resume during video capture, to ensure your entire video is recorded in a single file.
