HTC One S receives software update, but not all devices

Earlier today we reported that HTC One S devices were receiving a minor software update which we hoped would be in preparation of . It turns out the update will only be available for devices running software versions 1.53.531.16 or 1.84.531.2, which will be updated to version 2.35.531.10 after the update.

If you are running Android 4.0.4 with software version 2.35.531.7, which was released for the HTC One S back in September, your unit will be considered up to date and will not be updated to version 2.35.531.10.

If your device is eligible for the update it will be made available for your device (over-the-air) OTA, now through December 30th. However you can manually initiate the update by heading over to Settings > About Phone > Software Updates > Check Now and following the onscreen instructions to get the update for your device.

Along with bringing Android 4.0.4 for your device, the update fixes problems with delays in your data connection, fixes a bug which causes drops in Wi-Fi connectivity, fixes bugs which cause your device to randomly reboot, Fixes issues with email links, removes a lag when returning to your homescreen and fixes issues with music streaming.

The update additionally improves Wi-Fi stability, offers an updated user interface, improves Bluetooth connectivity and corrects a problem which causes the device to freeze on 2G when updated. If your device is already facing the last issue, you will have to contact T-Mobile as you wont be able to install this update.

before you install the update ensure that your device has at least 50% of its battery charge and 140MB of free space.
