Siri will be able to purchase movie tickets on Apple iOS 6.1

Apple iOS 6.1 is currently in its first beta and it is expected to be bringing new features to Siri. Some leaked information has revealed that one of those features will be the ability to purchase movie tickets. This will be done through Fandango apparently, allowing users who own the app to purchase tickets directly through their mobile devices.

To get started users will have to tell Siri that they want to buy tickets to a particular movie. First the theatre and the show-times will be displayed, then the Fandango app will be opened in order to complete the transaction. Users who don’t own the Fandango app will be prompted to download and install the app from the Apple App Store.

The service will be only available in participating theaters in the U.S. and those theaters will be displayed will be listed with a movie ticket icon. We assume that the purchase tickets will automatically be stored to the Passbook app, but this hasn't been confirmed.

Apple gave Siri the ability to relay more sports information, show movie listings and arrange restaurant reservations with iOS 6.0. It looks like the digital voice assistant will continue to grow with each iteration of their software and we are happy to see that it integrates with apps available on the App Store to get this done.
