People lineup for Windows Phones outside AT&T stores

Today is the official launch date for Nokia Lumia 920, Nokia Lumia 820 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X – three new Windows Phone 8 devices which are joining AT&T’s product lineup. It is important for Microsoft’s platform to gain customer demand and it looks like it has gotten the attention it was seeking. Reports suggest that people have been lining up outside AT&T stores to get their hands on the newest handsets.

Unfortunately the demand has not been matched by the supply as some stores are reported not to have had HTC devices with only Lumias in stock. Others have been missing the Lumias, with an AT&T store in Dallas, Texas reportedly having only one Lumia 920 in stock. It has been the same case with the wireless charging plates, with some stores reporting that the didn't have any in stock.

We would suggest that you check AT&T’s website to see if the store near you is stocked with your favorite Windows Phone in your favorite color. You can do this by clicking ‘Add to Cart’ for the device you like and clicking the ‘check store availability’ option which will show up. If you receive a ‘Limited Stock’ or ‘Out of Stock’ you can avoid making the journey to your local store.

The success of the Windows Phone platform is extremely important to both Microsoft and Nokia. Its disappointing that AT&T has not been properly prepared to face the demand at the launch. Even HTC is keen on reintroducing itself as a Windows Phone manufacturer, after loosing its top place on the Android lineup.

Did you purchase a new Windows Phone device today from AT&T? Did you get the color of your choice? Share a comment below.
