Google Storage to combine Google Drive and Picasa

Google has just reported that they will be combining the the storage on Google Drive with their Photo service Picasa. Currently users have a combination of 6GB (5GB on Google Drive + 1GB on Picasa) which will be reduced to just 5GB.

It’s a little strange that Google has suddenly become stingy with storage, specially considering their generosity with space on GMail. Users who heavily use Google Drive and Picasa services may quickly find themselves needing to buy more storage which now costs much more.

Now 25GB of Google Storage will cost you $5 a month compared to the previous 20GB for $5 a year. On a plus note, Android users have several storage solutions to choose from including Dropbox and Box.net and they can always spread their data across these platforms.
