Firefox Metro Preview now available to download for Windows 8
Firefox first announced that they were working on a Metro version of their web browser back in March. It looks like all that hard work finally has an outcome as a Preview of the Firefox Metro for Windows 8 is now available for download.
The preview build is currently available through Mozilla's experimental Elm repository. The user interface has been built from ground up and offers a whole new way of browsing the web. Metro Firefox also offers several new features and improvements which would surely appeal to the Windows 8 users.
First of all, you will be treated to the new modern UI experience, which Mozilla has codenamed “Asutralis Interface”. Here you can view your bookmarks, downloads and recent browsing history and you can navigate using the touch and swipe gestures while are an integral part of Windows 8.
Keep in mind that this is a very early release of the product which Mozilla promises to continue to improve in the coming months by refining the Windows integration and tweaking the user experience with the browser.
The browser also brings support for Firefox Sync, so you can and allows you to quickly switch between different browsing modes.
Before you install it on your computers, keep in mind that Firefox for Windows 8 is far from ready and may have several bugs you will have to deal with. If you do install Firefox, be sure to help Firefox with their development by filing any bugs you may come across.
