Asus Vivo Tab RT priced at $600, available for preorder at Staples

It doesn't look like the first lineup of Windows 8 tablets will be as cheap as the Google Nexus 7. Instead they will be priced similar to the iPad at the $500 – $600 range. The Asus Vivo Tab RT is now available for pre-order at Staples in the US and will cost $599. If you would like to include the keyboard dock it will cost you an extra $170.

The Vivo Tab RT features a 10.1 inch touch display, 32GB of internal storage, an 8 megapixel camera, an HDMI port  and is powered by a quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM.

The device runs Windows RT and will also include a free copy of Office 2013 RT. Keep in mind that you will not be able to run the same apps you would run on your regular Windows computers, but will have access to a whole new lineup of apps through the Windows Store which are optimized for touch.

You could always opt for the cheaper Acer Iconia W510 which offers a full Windows 8 experience and is priced at just $500.
