HP CEO Meg Whitman recently stated that HP was working on a smartphone. But she didn’t mention what operating system this phone would run. However an HP device has recently arrived on a GLBenchmark test list and it looks to be running Android.
The device which is codenamed ‘Bender’ runs Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, features a display with a 1366 x 720 pixel resolution and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
Unfortunately these were the only specifications which were revealed. However it looks like we have have a powerful device if it every arrives in the market.
Is HP simply testing the Android platform or do they plan to join in with their own Android device? HP is experienced in Linux, especially with their work on WebOS. But given the outcome of WebOS, we aren't certain if HP will stick with Android at the end.
