One of the biggest frustration for users of iOS 6.0 and the new Apple iPhone 5 is the Apple Maps application. While the new Maps has features like turn-by-turn navigation and 3D mapping, its missing some must have features like transit routes, walking or biking routes and street view.
Google may have not yet released an app for the Apple App Store you can still get Google Maps on your iOS device. Well sort of.
Google Maps is still available as a web app which you can access by visiting maps.google.com on your mobile web browser. While it loads you will receive a popup asking if you want to ‘Add to Home Screen’ which creates an app shortcut on your device for easy access.
If you miss the notification you can get to the option by selecting the Share button and selecting Add to Home Screen from within.
You can now use the new Google Maps shortcut to access Google Maps. While it wont have the same usability as a full Maps app, it may still be favorable over Apple Maps.
