Apple iPad 2 now features 32nm A5 chip for additional 2 hour battery life

The Apple iPad 2 may have to make way for the new iPad, but that doesn’t mean that its shelf life is over. Now Priced at $399, it is the tablet of choice for many, and has now been improved by Apple to make it even more appealing. The newest batch of iPad 2 tablets now ship with Apple’s new 32nm A5 processor. The processor upgrade could offer the iPad 2 an additional 2 hours of battery life compared to the original 45nm A5 processor.

According to some benchmark tests, the updated chip offers savings of 15.8% when browsing the web, 29% for intense gaming and 18% during video playback.

The new chip is 40% smaller than the previous version and drains 30% less power. It also costs lesser to manufacture, which will contribute to the lower pricing of the tablet along with research toward the upcoming iPhones and iPads.

Unfortunately there is no way to physically identify between the new and older models of the tablet and you will have to find references to the iPad 2,4 model number to know that you have the newest model.
