The iOS 5.1 update doesn't come with many new features but does take care of some pesky bugs on the platform
- Japanese language support for Siri (availability may be limited during initial rollout)
- Photos can now be deleted from Photo Stream
- Camera shortcut now always visible on Lock Screen for iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch (4th generation)
- Camera face detection now highlights all detected faces
- Redesigned Camera app for iPad
- Genius Mixes and Genius playlists for iTunes Match subscribers
- Audio for TV programs and films on iPad optimized to sound louder and clearer
- Podcast controls for playback speed and a 30-second rewind for iPad
- Addresses bugs affecting battery life
- Fixes and issue that occasionally caused audio to drop for outgoing calls
You can download the iOS 5.1 update directly on your Apple iOS device by going to or over-the-air (OTA) if you are running iOS 5.x.x by Settings > General > Software Update and following the onscreen instructions.
You can download iOS 5.1 automatically using iTunes. Simply connect your device to iTunes and select your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch from the left navigation bar on iTunes.
You can also download the iOS 5.1 update from one of the following links and install it manually on iTunes by holding down the Shift button (alt/option on Mac) and clicking Update.

NOTE - If you rely on a jailbreak or an unlock please do not update to iOS 5.1 at this time. Updating to iOS 5.1 will make you loose the jailbreak/ unlock and you may not be able to do so in future. We will share a jailbreak/ unlock method for iOS 5.1 when it is made available by the jailbreak community.
