BlackBerry smartphones were once the most popular devices in enterprises, but the iPhone and Android smartphones have been taking over it's business user base. As an answer to this problem RIM has announced the Mobile Fusion device management software to try and win back their customer loyalty.
Mobile Fusion is not aimed at RIM's own devices. Rather it is a software solution aimed at Android or iOS devices, offering them corporate level security features. It allows a company's IT department to manage and monitor a device password or applications and to remotely wipe the device if it is lost or stolen. None of the features offered by Mobile Fusion will affect the security features which are on the host operating system of the device.
The application suite could also potentially come with support for Windows Phone based on the demand for the platform.
Mobile Fusion will be available during the first quarter of 2012 and is said to be priced competitively.
