[Guide] How to root Samsung Epic Touch 4G on Android 2.3.4


The Samsung Epic Touch 4G is the Sprint variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II. The device features a 4.52 inch touch display, an 8 megapixel camera and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual core processor.

The device has now been rooted and you can find the step by step guide if you keep reading. The root comes courtesy of XDA Developers which is a forum for mobile developers and hackers from user zedomax.

NOTE - The rooting process is meant for advanced users who understand teh consequences of rooting your device. We are not responsible for any data loss or malfunctioning of your device which may result. Please backup all your data before proceeding
  1. Download and extract epictouhcrootv1.zip
  2. Download and install the Samsung Kies Software. You need this installed in order for your computer to detect your device.
  3. Press Power + Volume Down button to view options screen.
    • Then Release the buttons and press Volume Up
    • Your device should now be in download mode.
  4. Connect your device to your computer with the device USB cable.
  5. Download, extract and install Odin3 1.85
    • Open Odin 3 1.85
    • Select PDA
    • Select SPH-D710_Zedomax_Kernal.tar (extracted from  epictouhcrootv1.zip)
    • Click Start
    1. You device will Reboot
    That's it, your device should now be rooted. An app called SuperUser should now be available which confirms the root status.
