The HP TouchPad launched last month with the 16GB and 32GB models being sold at $499.99 and $599.99 respectively. With slow adaptation by customers and lack of support from developers the tablet sales were poor through the months of July and August.
In response HP announced yesterday that it would be canceling it's lineup of tablets and smartphones and announced that it will liquidate it's stock quickly by offering the devices at a very low price starting 8/20/2011.
This seams to have started off today with Best Buy, Future Shop and The Source in Canada offering the 16GB and 32GB versions for $99 and $149 respectively. It is important to remember while this may seam like a steal, HP may full discontinue supporting this platform in the near future, and you will be left with nothing more than a collectors item.
The U.S. stores have still not offered the discounted rates. Users who are clamoring for a chance to get their hands on a tablet for this extremely low rate have resulted in the device not being available online. So check here and find a store near you which has the device up for offer and hurry and get your hands on one before you miss your chance.
