Firefox 6 is now available to download


Mozilla Firefox 6 has been readied and is now available on Mozilla's servers for download. The automatic update should be available to users in the coming week.



The new version includes several improvements to the performance and security of the application and are not visually evident. However Mozilla's main focus with this release has been the speed, and after using the application you will increase the 20% increase Mozilla claims along with the significantly reduced memory consumption. Developers on the other hand with find some significant new features in this build.

The Developer Menu has been updated for the first time since Firefox 4, with a link to Scratchpad; which is a new tool which allows developers to execute Javascript code in real-time.

The Get Mode Tools option, links a range of developer oriented extensions, like Firebug and Stylish among others.

This release is part of Mozilla's rapid release schedule of Firefox, which has been going on since Firefox 5. Mozilla is using this schedule to ensure they stay on top of their competitors, especially Google who is playing catch up with a similar strategy with their Chrome Browser.
