Google Maps had been updated for the Android platform to version 5.9. This new update brings support for transit navigation which allows you to see how many stops there are before your stop when on public transport.
The update now supports Android tablets and also offers voice and ring notifications, which means you will receive notifications from your device when it is time to get off (GPS is required for accurate reading).

Another (labs) feature is Bubble Buttons. This allows you to add bubble buttons to place markers to quickly call or navigate to a place. Since this is a labs feature it will have to be enabled under settings, but will definitely become a standard feature in future releases.
