Apple iOS 5 will feature automatic over-the-air updates

All eyes are beginning to set on Apple, expecting the release of iOS 5 during the upcoming WWDC on June 6. With cloud features playing a large role in this update, users are expecting features ranging from clound based music storage to over the air iOS updates.

One of the upcoming features was confirmed in the iTunes App update page which said the following:
Or if your device has Automatic Download enabled for apps, your updates will download to your device without having to sync.
Currently users have to launch the AppStore app in order to update their apps. This new feature promises that users will know what updates are available for their apps without having to launch the App store every time.

This does offer some concerns since users will not want to download large app updates on data networks which are already expensive and clogged. If users prefer updating their apps while they are on their WiFi networks it doesn't really make sense to do anything more than show available updates.
