Google I/O 2011 - Day 01

The announcements during the event include:
  • Update to Android Honeycomb with Android 3.1 which will be released to Xoom 3G devices in the coming weeks.
  • Ice Cream Sandwich Preview - Next version of Android OS. New updated UI, One OS everywhere to reduce OS fragmentation, advanced app framework, open source.
  • Android Movie Rentals - You can choose to rent movies from thousands of titles, watch movies on android smartphones and tablets.
  • Music Beta - Google's cloud music feature allows you to store your music online and play it on your android devices.
  • Android Open Accessory - A means to standardize hardware development across Android devices.
  • Android @ Home - Libraries that enable developers to build apps which can communicate with devices and appliances in the home.
  • Project Tungsten - Hardware reference design which runs the Android OS and Android@Home software framework.
  • Google Books API in Code Labs - Access meta data, pricing and information on more than 15 million books from books.google.com.
  • Google App Engine 1.5
  • Go Programming language for Google App Engine.
  • +1 button for publishers.
  • Web resources for Developers - Guide to App Galaxy.
  • Fusion Tables APIs.
  • Google Storage - open for all.
  • Google Plugin for Eclipse 2.4.
  • ChromeVox screen reader for Chrome and Chrome OS.
  • New charts and features from Google Charts Tools.
  • Google Prediction API - build improved apps.
  • New Eclipse tools for Android.
  • Peer-to-Peer NFC coming to Android.
  • Google Places - API available for developers

Lucky visitors received a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Special Edition. These devices will feature Android 3.0 and will receive Android 3.1 in the coming weeks.
