Is the iPhone 4 a 4G capable device?

If you do think your iPhone 4 is 4G capable, you are not alone. One-Third of iPhone users mistakenly assume that their iPhone 4 is a 4G capable smartphone. In case anyone is wondering 4G is the fourth generation wireless standard in wireless telecommunication, which is capable of very fast data downloads and uploads.

Since Apple used 3G in their device name it is easy to understand why so many would be confused and automatically assume that the 4 would stand for 4G. The '4' actually simply means that this is the 4th iPhone model.

No long lines for Verizon iPhone 4

The Apple iPhone 4 CDMA is finally out for Verizon, and as the video below shows, there aren't many people waiting in line for it. Surprising considering this is the first CDMA iPhone 4.

Even the fact that the devices have been available for awhile on pre-order doesn't justify this crowd in our eyes.

But then again the iPhone 5 is due this summer, so why would everyone want to invest in the iPhone 4 CDMA when they can just wait for the newer iPhone is just a few months.

Apple iPhone 4 (CDMA) - Hands On Video

The folks at CNet get preview a hands on with the new Apple iPhone 4 for Verizon. The device has much in common with it's GSM (AT&T) counterpart, but the features and performance variation is enough to tell the two siblings apart.

While the device will not give an overly different experience from the original iPhone 4, It is still a welcome addition to the CDMA family.
