Android 2.3 Gingerbread - Hands On and Walkthrough

Android 2.3 Gingerbread is the latest update to Google's Android OS. 
Some features include a new Android Keyboard, NFC support, new system colors and improved overall performance.

The Google Nexus S will come with Android 2.3 at launch and the Nexus One will be receiving the update in a few weeks.

Most other high end android devices should receive this update in 2011.

Google Nexus S - Hands On Video

The Google Nexus S is the successor of the Google Nexus One and is built by Samsung instead of HTC. It features a 4 inch curved touch display, 16GB of internal storage, a 5 megapixel camera, a secondary camera for video calls and is powered by a 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM.

I personally am a huge HTC fan, and find myself a little disappointed with Google's choice to use Samsung as their Nexus manufacturer.  However the hands on video which follows may change my perception on the handset:

Google Nexus S introduced

Meet the Google Nexus S : The second device to come backed directly by Google and host the Nexus name. The Nexus S comes pre-installed with the latest version of Google Android - Gingerbread. It is powered by a 1GHz Hummingbird processor and has 16GB of internal memory.

The device has a generous 4-inch  Super AMOLED Contour Display which boasts its Samsung roots. The Contour Display ensures that the touchscreen sits comfortably against the contours of your face when you are taking a call.

Google Nexus S, Nexus One successor

Some new photos have emerged which are suspected to be those of the speculated successor of the Google Nexus One. The Nexus One is the first smartphone to be marketed directly by Google and runs an unmodified stock version of Android OS.

While the Nexus One was manufactured by HTC, the new device which is known as the Nexus S will be manufactured by Samsung.
