Xiaomi has just announced the latest version of its Android based OS - MIUI 6, which brings several new features and improvements including a new design and enhanced security. The update which is currently in beta phase should soon be made available to the company's own device portfolio along with devices from other makers.

The was announced today as the company's newest flagship, during a massive event which took place in Beijing. Chief executive Lei Jun was welcomed by thunderous applause, as he took the cover off the new flagship, a device with a premium design and a claim to be the fastest smartphone in the world at the moment.

Xiaomi Mi 3 launches in India; will be exclusive to Flipkart

The Xiaomi Mi 3 will be available in India starting July 22, as an exclusive through local online retailer Flipkart. The handset has been priced at a reasonable 13,999 rupees ($233 USD). Registrations are now being accepted by Flipkart until July 21st, and only those who have registered will be able to purchase the handset on launch day.

Xiaomi Redmi Note announced, an affordable, upper-mid range phablet

The Xiaomi Redmi Note has been officially announced by the Chinese manufacturer as a low-cost, upper-mid range phablet. The device features a 5.5 inch 720p display and is available for pre-order in two-versions - one with a 1.4GHz MT6592 octa-core CPU, 1GB RAM, and 8GB storage which costs $130, and one with a spec bump to 1.7GHz, 2GB RAM, and 16GB storage which will cost $160. The phablet will launch on March 26 in China.

While Xiaomi may not be a globally known name, it has been making waves in its home Chinese market since its first smartphone launch in 2011. The company has also been in the news recently for its high profile hiring of Hugo Barra, ex-Vice President of Product Management for Android, who joined the company as Vice President of Xiaomi Global. Now the company has launched their brand new  Xiaomi Mi-3 which aims to capture a global audience
