Asus ZenWatch will be released in the US on November 9 for $199

Asus ZenWatchIf you are planning on an Android Wear device, you can choose between five different smartwatches from four manufacturers. Now the Asus ZenWatch is set to join the lineup in the US on November 9th for $199.

The ZenWatch is the first smart wearable from Asus and at $199 it's only competitor is the Samsung Gear Live. The Asus ZenWatch is expected to stand out for a couple reasons. First, it has a rectangular display, but has a more rounded metal face, similar to the Apple Watch.

Additionally, this is the first Android Wear device that will be showing manufacturer customizations. Google hasn't allowed manufacturers to customize Android Wear in the past, but is slowly allowing the platform to be customized like Android. We don't know exactly what this will mean, although Asus has noted a couple things like ZenUI integration, and options to cover the watch display with your palm to silence an incoming call.

In terms of hardware, the Asus ZenWatch is very similar to its counterparts, featuring a 1.64 inch display with a 320 x 320 pixel resolution, 4GB of internal storage, and a Snapdragon 400 processor with 512MB of RAM. However it should be noted that the ZenWatch comes with IP55 certification, so it cannot be immersed in water.
