The Nokia Z Launcher was originally announced back in June, and has been been privately available for testing until now. The Z Launcher is an innovative solution from Nokia's emerging platforms group, which replaces the multiple Android homescreens with a single screen of dynamic apps. The list of apps will change over time based on a users particular needs.

With the Nokia Z Launcher, users can also use their fingers to scribble letters on the homescreen. For example – if you are looking for the "calculator" app, just scribble a "c" anywhere over the screen, and you will be presented with a list of apps, starting with the letter. Typing out a second character (in our case - "a") will further narrow down the list of choices.
Its not clear if this solution is easier than the usual multiple homescreen with icons, or the ability to type or scroll to find the app you need. Still it will surely find a niche audience who will use it as their preferred method of navigation. In any case, the Nokia Z Launcher will be the default homescreen experience on the recently announced Nokia N1 Android tablet.
