HTC Weather has been released on the Google Play Store. This has become the latest trend, led by Motorola and HTC. By listing system apps in the Google Play Store, the manufacturers can avoid the carriers, and have users update them just as easily as they would update any app. The manufacturer is no longer relying on a carrier to test a maintenance update, approve it, and send it out OTA.

HTC Weather for Android has already been updated for the HTC One M8 and HTC Desire EYE. It offers 7 hour to 14 day forecasts, and and includes some rather nifty weather animations along with the latest weather news. HTC Weather uses AccuWeather.com as the source of its weather information.
