Google Search for Android has been updated to version 4.0 which brings a Material Design makeover, with a streamlined layout, bolder colors and fluid animations. The update also brings the ability to search within apps, find appointments within your mail and more.
The update is being rolled out automatically, and should appear on your device very soon. While the APK is not available yet, you could download the latest file directly from the Google Play Store
The update also gives Google the ability to search through your mail content for important appointments, so you can be reminded in time on Google Now.
The updated Google Search can also search for content within apps. So for example if you are searching for a specific topic within Tumblr, you can ask Google to search and the results will appear directly within Google Now.

On certain devices, such as the Nexus 6, Nexus 9, or Samsung Galaxy Note 4, you can say "OK Google" to perform a search while the screen is off and the device is unplugged. Google previously announced that this feature was coming with Lollipop, but now we have the names of a few devices.
