The Lumia 530 will be available in the US starting October 3 through Cricket Wireless for just $49.99 in stores and online. The Lumia 530 is a Windows Phone 8.1 device and the successor to the popular Nokia Lumia 520.
The Lumia 530 features a 4.0 inch LCD touch display, 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5 megapixel rear camera with downloadable Nokia Lenses and a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor with 512MB of RAM.
With Windows Phone 8.1 you gain access to Cortana, the only personal assistant who can set reminders based on people as well as time or location, could remind a working mom to pick up dinner when she passes the grocery store. Windows Phone 8.1 also includes several other enhancements like the customizable Start Screen with Live Tiles and the Action Center for notifications.
While the Lumia 530 only costs $49.99, it still requires activation and wireless service from Cricket. You could add your Lumia 530 to Cricket's no-annual contract plans with access to high speed data at $35 (1GB of high speed data), $45 (3GB of high speed data), $55 (10GB of high speed data), all including a $5 auto bill pay credit.
Cricket also pointed out that the Lumia 1320 phablet is also eligible for the Windows Phone 8.1 update and that customers should expect the OTA update on their devices in the coming weeks.
Are you planning to get your Lumia 530 from Cricket? Or do you prefer the offer from T-Mobile.
