Yesterday we saw the newly unveiled HTC Desire EYE with its 13MP front and rear cameras, the HTC RE handheld camera and the new HTC EYE Experience software. The company promised that the HTC EYE experience will be released to a number of HTC handsets as a software update in the coming months, and its already making its way to the HTC One M8 in certain regions.
The HTC EYE Experience is being released along with Android 4.4.4 KitKat, the most recent version of Google's mobile operating system. With the HTC EYE Experience, you One M8 will gain features like Face Tracking, which allows the front-facing camera of the One (M8) to track the faces of up to 4 people and keep them in focus; Split Capture, a feature that makes use of both the front and the rear cameras and combines the resulting image into a handy collage; and Face Fusion, a feature that allows you to make a mashup between your selfie and another portrait image.
The entire update is around 252MB in size, and is being rolled out OTA (over-the-air) to customers in certain regions. It is not known if this is a pilot test ahead of the global rollout, so there is no certainty on how long the public will have to wait for a global rollout.
