Flipkart lists first Android One device ahead of announcement

Flipkart

Google was scheduled to unveil it first Android One device during a September 15 event in India. Unfortunately Flipkart has jumped the gun by posting a listing for the likely subject of tomorrow's unveiling - the Spice Android One Dream UNO Mi-498.

For those unfamiliar with Android One, it is a initiative devised by Google to work with manufacturers to bring affordable Android phones to emerging markets.

Because of the unintentional leak, we now know that the first Android One device will feature a 4.5 inch display, 4GB of internal storage, a 5MP rear camera, a 2MP front camera, a 1700mAh battery, dual-SIM cards, and a 1.3GHz MediaTek processor with 1GB of RAM. On the software side you get Android 4.4.4 KitKat which an assured upgrade to Android L almost immediately after it is released.

Spice has already publicized the phone using its social media sites, and has posted that the handset will be exclusive to Flipkart. And while the Indian online retailer did accidentally have the phone up for sale on its website, it has since removed it from its online store.

Monday, Android One will finally be unveiled and besides the phone from Spice, we expect to see similar models from Karbonn and Micromax.
