Cortana update brings 'Concert Watch' and 'Public Transit'

Microsoft has constantly been updating its personal digital assistant, Cortana with new features and improvements. Most recently the company has released another background service update which includes Concert Watch and Public Transit Reminders.

The Concert Watch feature alerts the user when favorite artists are playing shows near you. It’s nice feature to keep tabs on your favorite musicians without needing to check their tour schedule constantly.

To enable this features head to Cortana’s Notebook > Interests > tap on add ‘+’ , there you will see the various categories within Cortana’s Notebook that you can customize. Among the lineup of Daily Routine, Discover Finance and others you’ll now see Music. Add the Music interest to Cortana to get notified when favorite artists are playing shows in your neighborhood.

The Public Transit Reminders feature will alert users in the US and UK about public transit, with notifications for calendar events, as well as Transit updates to favorite places: notify you on delays or when the last bus or train to your destination leaving.

To enable this features head to Cortana’s Notebook > Interests > Getting Around. From here you can turn on calendar event updates and select to receive notifications about the best time to leave for an event on your preferred mode of transportation to your favorite place. In addition getting alerts for when it’s time to leave for work or head home, you can also choose to receive notifications when the last ride is leaving.

Since these are background updates they will be enabled automatically and will not require you to perform any updates yourself
