The OnePlus One is now receiving the Android 4.4.4 software update (OTA) over-the-air. You can check if the update is available for your device by heading to Settings > About Phone > Software Updates. Along with the OS update, the new software should also bring several bug fixes and performance improvements based on user feedback.
The update brings a new feature called Clear Image for the camera, According to OnePlus, "Once you switch on the new Clear Image mode in the Camera app, nothing but awesomeness will be captured." Using algorithms, pictures are clearer, noise in low-light conditions is removed, and OnePlus says it adds detail to pictures that other cameras can't add.
The update adds a new, cooler calibration of the screen, which should help address the yellow tinting issue faced by users. The phone now uses its proximity sensor to avoids switching the displays while in your pocket. The touch keys are now illuminated better, and the overall stability of the handset is improved. Among the items fixed is one that prevented vibrations from being deactivated during "quiet hours." Another fix takes care of the bug that led the phone to refuse to update song info on the lock screen.
Also fixed is the volume of the microphone in "voice recorder," the failure of "Ok Google" to start Google Search and the failure of the "O" gesture to start the camera. Repaired is an issue that would put up the wrong sized wallpaper on the screen.
The update might take some time to reach you, so don't panic if it doesn't come right away. Hopefully, this update will solve the issues that have had a number of the phone's owners unhappy with the manufacturer's response to these problems.
