While most Windows Phone 8.0 users are still waiting for the Windows Phone 8.1 update for their devices, Those on the Developer Preview have already been treated to Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1. Now Microsoft is rolling out a new 8.10.14157.200 update to this Developer Preview.
Windows Phone 8.1 (GDR1) Update 1 brings a few notable features and improvements to Microsoft's Mobile OS. While most of these improvements are for OEMs, there are some notable features, like Live Tile Folders, which allows users to stack multiple Live Tiles into a single folder for better organization. The update also allows those in India, Australia and Canada to use an alpha version of Cortana. China and the U.K. will have their own beta version of the personal assistant made available. Additionally the update will allow you can merge multiple SMS messages together to forward or delete. You will also be able to customize your alarm's snooze settings.
Unfortunately Microsoft has not released a changelog for the new 14157 update. However its small size indicates that it likely brings various performance improvements and bug fixes to the GDR1 update.
In order to manually install this OTA update on your Developer Preview device, go to Settings > Phone Update > Check for Updates. Just make sure you have at least 1.5GB of free space available and has at least 50% battery power before updating the phone. The update is less than 40MB in size and takes 30-45 min to install.
