HTC One M8 receives Android 4.4.3 software update in India, enables LTE support

HTC One M8

The  is now receiving the Android 4.4.3 software update in India. The update is being pushed out to devices OTA and brings the brings the 2.10.720.1 version number along with various improvements. The 4.4.3 update also enables 4G LTE connectivity on the One M8 which launched in India without it.

When the HTC One M8 was first released in India, the company decided to disable its 4G LTE radio. So despite having a Snapdragon 801 chipset and all the necessary hardware it required, Indian users couldn't connect their phones to LTE networks and enjoy higher internet speeds. HTC promised that they would eventually enable LTE connectivity on their flagship smartphone, and it looks like they have kept that promise with the release of Android 4.4.3.

Along with the long-awaited support for 4G LTE, the Android 4.4.3 update brings improvements to OpenSSL security, many performance improvements, bug fixes, and application updates. The update is around 658MB in size, so users are advised to connect to Wi-Fi and have their battery fully charged before downloading the update.

Since such updates usually roll out in phases, it maybe awhile before it is available for your device. If you have not received the update notification, you can try manually checking for the update under Settings on your device.
