The HTC One M8 for AT&T is now receiving the Android 4.4.3 software update. The new software will bring the 2.23.502.3 version number and is expected to be around 660MB in size, so users are recommended to connect to Wi-Fi and have their devices fully charged before initiating the update.
The latest version of Android was released for the international model and the Sprint variant about a month ago, and the T-Mobile variant received the update last week. So this leaves only the Verizon model ,which is expected to receive the update in mid-September.
Since the HTC One M8 runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, it already has the transparent status and nav bars, white status bar icons, immersive mode, new Location menu, cloud printing, or full screen album and movie art in the lock screen. With Android 4.4.3 you wont notice any visual improvements, but your HTC One M8 will benefit from various optimization, bug fixes and security improvements.
The update is being rolled out OTA (over-the-air) and in stages. So you may not receive the update notification immediately. Once you do receive the OTA notification you can click on "Download Now". After the files are downloaded, choose "Install now." After the installation process is complete the smartphone will reboot. You can also manually check for the update by going to Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now.

Android 4.4.3 update halted on the HTC One M8 for AT&T due to severe battery drain
Yesterday we saw the HTC One M8 for AT&T receive the Android 4.4.3 software update. Unfortunately the first batch of users who have received the update have experienced severe battery drain following the installation. As a result the update has been temporarily halted until the cause has been identified.
The Android 4.4.3 update for the HTC One M8 brings minor improvements and security fixes to the device, including the enhancements from Android 4.4.4 This means that Android 4.4.3 should be the last update for the HTC One (M8) before the major Android L update is released.
Besides Android 4.4.3 and the aforementioned security fixes, the update includes optimization for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular connectivity. Applications getting updated include the Camera and the Gallery (Image Match), Settings (Power History) and the HTC Sync Manager. Also receiving updates are the BoomSound speakers, Motion Launch and Quick Settings.
There is no word on when HTC will resume the Android 4.4.3 update for the AT&T version of the One M8, so stay tuned for updates.
