Today ZTE announced a new lineup of Android 4.4 KitKat smartphones in its high-end Nubia series. The ZTE Nubia Z7 will succeed the ZTE Nubia Z5S, but it will also be accompanied by the ZTE Nubia Z7 Max and the ZTE Nubia Z7 mini.
The ZTE Nubia Z7 is the best of the set, with high end hardware worthy of a modern day flagship. Its specs include a 5.5 inch Quad-HD display with a 1440 by 2560 pixel resolution, 32GB of internal storage, a 13 megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 5 megapixel front camera and a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM. You also get 4G LTE connectivity and Dual SIM functionality.
As you will notice the hardware is in line with one of the top flagships in the market, the LG G3. ZTE has even managed to make their device more compact that LG's flagship and will have the device on sale in China for a respectable $550 (€410).
Next in line we have the ZTE Nubia Z7 Max, which is nearly identical to the Nubia Z7. While the Max in the name usually suggests a larger display size, the handset has the same size display with a full 1080p HD resolution compared to the Quad-HD display on the flagship. The overall dimensions are also larger measuring at 152.7 x 76 x 8.7mm and the RAM has been reduced to 2GB from 3GB. Fortunately the handset does include microSD for storage expansion and a larger battery. The Nubia Z7 Max is being offered at a fairly modest $320 (€240).

Finally we have the ZTE Nubia Z7 mini, which comes with a smaller 5 inch full 1080p HD display, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 13 megapixel rear camera, a 5 megapixel front camera and a 2.0GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM.Surprisingly, however, the "mini" is quite elongated, taller than even the Z7 Max, at 140.9 x 69.3 x 8.2mm. The Nubia Z7 mini has a smaller, 2300 mAh battery, and a very affordable price tag of $240 (€180). The Nubia Z7 mini will also be offered in an array of colors but its not certain if the handsets will be offered outside of China.
What do you think of ZTE's new device lineup? Would you consider picking one up ?
