Microsoft Mobile is rolling out a new software update for its Nokia X devices, which include the Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL. The update brings several new features and improvements to the handsets including a pre-installed Microsoft services, as well as a new app switcher.
When activated, the new app switcher displays your apps as a series of cards. This is a lot like the switcher found on the Nokia X2. To activate it, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the app switcher icon. You can select the app you want to switch to, or tap the "X" below an app to close it.
Three of Microsoft's services will now come pre-installed on the Nokia X. The note-taking app OneNote, Outlook.com email, and Microsoft's OneDrive are all now part of the Nokia X. They join Skype, which has been avialable on the Nokia X line from the start.
There are also some improvements to the Nokia Store, which is now easier to search and find apps and games on. The Store now also integrates with third-party stores so that you can search for apps in one place on your phone. There is also a new Home screen Spotlight widget for easier app discover, as well as one-click downloads.
You can wait for it to download automatically, or go to Settings > About phone > System updates > Check now to download the update manually.
