HTC One M8 in Europe receives Android 4.4.3 software update

HTC One M8
The in Europe is reportedly receiving the Android 4.4.3 KitKat software update. The update is said to be around 613MB in size and carrying the 2.22.401.4 version number. This happens to be the same update which was sent out to the developer and unlocked versions of the HTC One M8 over the weekend.

The update is being pushed out OTA (over-the-air) and you should receive a notification when it is available for download. You can also manually check for the update by heading to Settings > About > Software updates > Check now.

Besides the inclusion of the Android 4.4.3 build, there are various security fixes and performance enhancements to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and network connectivity. According to the changelist, the camera is getting an update and "Image Match" is coming to the Gallery. It also adds "Power History" to the Settings page, and there is an update to the HTC Sync Manager. The update also optimizes BoomSound, Extreme Power Saving Mode, Motion launch and Quick Setting.

In case you are wondering why the One M8 did not receive the Android 4.4.4 update which has been rolling out to the Nexus and Google Play devices, the company has stated that they have managed to include the security fixes found on the 4.4.4 release into their Android 4.4.3 update. Don't expect the carrier branded versions of the HTC One M8 to receive the update right away. The carriers need to test out the update first, which leads to a delay before it is pushed out to their customers.
