Samsung Galaxy WOn Monday, Samsung unveiled a large size Android smartphone named the Galaxy W, which features a massive 7 inch display with a 720 by 1280 pixel resolution. The display maintains a 16:9 aspect ratio, allowing the device to keep the usual smartphone look.

The rest of the specs include 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8MP rear camera, a 3200 mAh battery and a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM. The device comes with  pre-installed. The price of the phone is 499,400 Korean Won ($487 USD), and the device is being made available in black, white and red.

The 7 inch screen is a record for a smartphone, topping the 6.44 inch display on the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Samsung's previous record for a smartphone screen was the 6.3 inch display found on the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3.

Strangely, this is the second Samsung Galaxy W to be released by the company. Back in 2011, a 3.7 inch handset powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread carried the same name. The new Samsung Galaxy W can be identified by its model number of SM-T2558, and might be limited to the Asian region.
