Anyone who is familiar with third party launchers on Android, would have come across Nova Launcher. Now this popular launcher has been updated to version 3.0 which brings several new features and improvements.
You can download the update directly on your Android device through the Google Play Store. You can also download the update and find out what's new after the break
The most notable new feature is the support for Google's voice recognition hotword. This means that whenever you decide to open Google Search, you can simply say “Okay, Google” and Nova will launch it for you. All in all, a pretty neat addition to the launcher's features, but be advised that Google's voice recognition does not support all Android devices or locales just yet.
Another great feature is the subgrid positioning, which allows users to snap items, such as icons and folders, halfway through the grid on the screen. Paired with the added capability to individually select each widget's padding, Nova Launcher 3.0 significantly steps up its game in the customization department. Speaking of widgets, customization devotees can now pin both 1x1 and 4x1 widgets to Nova's dock.
Last, but surely not least, Nova Launcher 3.0 is significantly lighter and even more stable than before – its memory usage has been slashed and the developer, TeslaCoil, has also fixed the most common issues that caused the app to force close. We can't be happier about this!
