The Asus PadFone X will be available for pre-order to AT&T customers starting June 6 and will cost $199.99 with a two-year contract. While the carrier did not specify an exact release date, it is expected to be available sometime next month.
If you don't like being tied down to a contract, you could consider getting the Android 4.4 KitKat tablet through AT&T Next ($22.92 per month with AT&T Next 18, or $29.80 per month with AT&T Next 12).
The Asus PadFone X is made up of two component. The smartphone component features a 5 inch full 1080p HD display, 4G LTE connectivity, a 13MP "PixelMaster" rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and LowLight Mode, a 2MP front facing camera for video calls, and a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM. The device shares its internals with the tablet dock, which features a 9 inch display and includes an extra battery which can be charged wirelessly.
AT&T will offer several accessories for the PadFone X, including a Folio Bundle set of protective cases, and a PadFone X Mobile Dock (which is “a custom-fit Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad that transforms PadFone X into a notebook”).
