Acer Liquid Leap wearable and Acer Liquid Jade smartphone announced

Alongside the unveiling of the ACER ICONIA TAB 8, the company also announced the Acer Liquid Leap, which happens to be its very first wearable device. The company also unveiled a new smartphone called the Acer Liquid Jade, which was briefly showcased last month.

The Liquid Leap is water-resistant (IPX7-certified) and has a 1-inch touchscreen display. It tracks your fitness, displays incoming calls and messages, and controls the music player on your Liquid Jade smartphone (via Bluetooth 4.0). Its battery can last up to 7 days.

The Liquid Jade smartphone is presented by Acer as having “a curved ergonomic outline all-around.” The handset is only 7.5mm-thin, and runs Android 4.4 KitKat. Not all of its features were announced, but we know that the Jade has a 5-inch 720p IPS display with Gorilla Glass 3, and a 13MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture. The smartphone will be offered in two color variants (black and white), bundled with the Liquid Leap wearable in some markets. It doesn't look like the Leap can be paired with other handsets.

Pricing details haven’t been unveiled, but we’ll hear more on this in the third quarter of the year, when the Liquid Leap and Liquid Jade are going to be released.
