The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active for AT&T is now receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat software update. The update includes Android 4.4.2 along with the I537UCUCNC9 which brings several new features and improvements.
Among the improvements is that the notification bar at the top of the screen is now completely transparent, while the status icons are plain white. All location settings are consolidated in a single menu, too. Support for wireless printing over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth has been included, as well. The full-screen Immersive mode is also on board.
Other features offered by the KitKat update for the Galaxy S4 Active include the improved closed captioning, security, battery life, call reliability, enhanced copy/paste feature, and support for color emojis. Additionally, it's now a tad easier to insert images, photos, and videos in emails or other types of messages. The lock screen has also seen some nifty improvements - a quick button allows users to access the camera, while full-screen media controls and album art will be displayed on the lock screen of the Galaxy S4 Active every time you listen to music.
It is important to note that AT&T has just started to roll out the KitKat update, so you might not get it right away. However, you probably know that you can manually check if it's available for your device by going to Settings > More > About device > Software update > Update.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, which got released back in June 2013, features a 5 inch touch display with a 1080 by 1920 pixel resolution an 8MP rear amera and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB of RAM. The handset includes IP67 certification for water and dust resistance, just like the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S5. This means that your Galaxy S4 Active can survive under a meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
