Wi-Fi Sense on Windows Phone 8.1 demonstrated on video

Wi-Fi Sense on Windows Phone 8.1One of the features of the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 update, will be the ability to automatically turn your Wi-Fi connection on. It looks like the way this will work is that if you were to go into the Wi-Fi settings to turn off your Wi-Fi connection Windows Phone 8.1 will offer a new option to set a timer to automatically turn Wi-Fi back on.

Now a new video has surfaced alongside the static images, showing how this feature will work

The feature is being labeled as "Wi-Fi Sense" and although it is based on a timer, it will require that Location services be turned on. You'll be able to choose to have Wi-Fi automatically turn back on in 1 hour, 4 hours, 1 day, or set it to manual controls.

The clip is all of 34 seconds long and shows the above mentioned feature in action. Wi-Fi Sense will come in handy when you know that you're going to be away from a Wi-Fi signal for a known time period. And as we noted in the previous story, if you need to turn off Wi-Fi for longer than 4 hours (for example, when you're at work), Cortana can handle that request with settings changes based on whether you're at home or work.
