Nokia X receives first software update

The Android based is receiving its first software update today. The update is being pushed OTA (over-the-air) and brings version 11.1.1 to the device. It looks like this will be a minor update focussed on improving performance and fixing bugs.

You will receive a notification when the OTA update is available for your device at which point you can initiate the update. You can also check for updates by going to Settings > About Phone > System updates and tapping Check Now. If your phone shows that an update is available, just tap the notification message and follow the on-screen instructions shown on your phone. The update will take around 15-30 minutes to install and may require a restart to finish the installation.

The version 11.1.1 software update for the Nokia X has the following new features and improvements compared to previous 10.0.3 software version
  • Colors of 3rd party app tiles can be changed.
  • Phone software performance improvements.
The Nokia X runs a forked version of Android (AOSP v4.1.2) with tile-based user interface and redesigned Fastlane. The Nokia X is an affordable device which features a 4 inch WVGA display, 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 3 megapixel rear camera, a 1500 mAh battery, optional dual-SIM capability, and a 1GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM.
