Windows Phone 8.1 ‘Action Center’ leaked

Windows Phone 8.1It looks like Microsoft is hard at work readying a notification center for the Windows Phone 8.1 update. According to the latest leaked information, the notification center is going to be called 'Action Center' and will offer features similar to what we have already seen on Android and iOS.

The new Action Center can be accessed by swiping from top to bottom on your Windows Phones, just as you would on other platforms. It shows four toggles for basic settings - Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplane and Driving modes. This new notifications hub will also display battery percentage and date.

A full pull down reveals the complete ‘Action Center’ with all notifications in it appearing in categories, apparently by the app they came from. You can clear all notifications in one swipe, and apps can control individual notifications, silently updating, adding and deleting them.

A report from The Verge also confirms that Microsoft's voice assistant, Cortana is also set to debut in the upcoming update, and that it will pull information from Foursquare, Bing and others to better answer queries. The volume controls will also be split  to allow separate volume levels for notifications and media like music.

All these new Windows Phone 8.1 features are expected to get officially unveiled at the Microsoft Build developer conference in the beginning of April.
