LG G Pro 2 officially unveiled, with 5.9 inch display and Android 4.4 KitKat

The LG G Pro 2 was officially announced today, in Korea as expected during a special event. The device though larger, uses features a design similar to the , with thin bezels, and hardware keys on its rear.

The G Pro 2 was officially announced back in January, but LG kept the list of features to themselves at that time. Now we know the handset features a 5.9 inch IPS touch display with a 1080 by 1920 pixel resolution. Despite its large screen size, the Korean company is referring to the G Pro 2 as a smartphone and not a phablet.

The handset features a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and OIS Plus (an improved version of the Optical Image Stabilization which the company debuted on the LG G2 last year). This camera will be capable of capturing up to 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) video. You also have a secondary 2.1 megapixel front facing camera for video calls. The G Pro 2 will also be the first LG smartphone to feature a high-power 1W speaker, which should make it an amazing multimedia device. Other features include LTE-A connectivity, NFC, 32GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support, a 3,200 (removable) battery and a 2.26GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB of RAM.

The G Pro 2 will launch with Android 4.4 KitKat which has been customized with LG's proprietary Emotional UX. The KnockOn feature allows user to unlock his/her device by knocking on its display using a specific combination has evolved to be called called Knock Code.

According to LG, the G Pro 2 will be launched later this month in South Korea, via all major carriers, in three color versions: white, silver, and black. Pricing details have not been announced. The new smartphone will also be released around the world, but specific details on this haven’t been unveiled yet. We’ll probably find out more at MWC 2014 in a couple of weeks.
