Sony Xperia Tablet Z Wi-Fi receives Android 4.3 update

The Wi-Fi variant of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z has joined its cellular variant in receiving the  software update. The models involved are the SGP311 and SGP312 models, and brings the firmware up to 10.4.B.0.577. This is not an OTA update, so the tablet owner is going to have to sync his slate to his PC and use PC Companion or the Sony Update Service.

The update is is 793MB in size and alongside Android 4.3, it also includes a new home launcher, similar to the one on the Sony Xperia Z1. The update adds the Sony Smart Social camera, support for "Xperia Theme" and a new battery stamina mode. The latter allows you to increase the standby time of the battery by an incredible 400%. The update also supports the launch of multiple small apps and brings restricted profiles for multiple users.

The app shortcut on the top left of the screen has been removed by the update, which is the only likely downside with this update.
