It was not too long ago, that the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition was launched, with Android 4.4 KitKat. Now the tablet is receiving the Android 4.4.2 software update over-the-air (OTA). If you have not received the update notification, you could manually check for it under Settings on your device.
Those with the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition will find that Android 4.4.2 brings nothing more than a few bug kills and some small UI improvements. The update for the slab weighs in at 52MB.
Android 4.4.1 just recently was pushed out for the Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 10, with improvements to the Nexus 5 camera along with other improvements. Android 4.4.2 is supposed to fix an issue that Nexus devices are having with SMS messages and also removes a hidden privacy feature called App Ops. This has been a part of all Android builds since 4.3 and was designed to help Android users better control what kind of data Android apps could collect while installed on your phone. Google said that App Ops could break some apps if left as part of the OS, and was released by mistake.
With the update rolling out to these devices, it shouldn't be long before it reaches the other Google Play Edition devices like the Galaxy S4 and the Sony Z Ulta.
