Sony Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and SmartWatch 2 coming to the US

If you live in the U.S. you probably know that Sony products tend to arrive later than most other brands. Luckily the manufacturer wants this to change. The company's newest lineup with include the Sony Xperia Z1, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra phablet and the Sony SmartWatch 2 are set to be launched in the United States.

Both devices along with the Smartwatch accessory will be sold through Sony's official website and a number of select online retailers. Unfortunately Sony has not partnered with any of the U.S. carriers for their smartphones, which means you will have to be willing to pay the full unsubsidized costs if you want to own one of these devices.

The Sony Xperia Z1 is the company's smartphone flagship. It features a 5 inch full (1080p) HD touch display, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 20 megapixel camera with an Exmor RS sensor capable of 1080p HD video capture, a secondary 2 megapixel camera for video calls and is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM. The device includes water and dusts resistance for an added layer of protection.

The unlocked Sony Xperia Z1 will cost you $699.99 for its HSPA+ model. While the LTE model has not been listed by Sony, you can get it for $715 on Amazon.

On the other hand you have the Sony Xperia Z Ultra - A 6.44 inch phablet which borders on the 7 inch tablet territory. Its specs include 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8 megapixel camera with an Exmor RS sensor capable of 1080p HD video capture, a secondary 2 megapixel camera for video calls. NFC, 4G LTE connectivity and is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM.

The Sony Xperia Z Ulta has been priced at $649.99 for its HSPA+ model, while the LTE version will cost you $679.99 on the manufacturer's website and through select retailers.

Last but not least, we have the Sony SmartWatch 2 which features a waterproof body, a 1.6 inch, 220 by 176 pixel non-backlit transflective display that is readable outdoors. That one is said to be energy-efficient enough to have Sony promise three to four days under normal usage. Best of all, unlike the Samsung Galaxy Gear, Sony's SmartWatch 2 can be paired with any Android device, which is an enormous advantage.

The Sony SmartWatch 2 has been priced at $199.95 through Sony's official store.
